Frank Scaramuzzino, 55, of Shelby Township stood mute at his arraignment, and a U.S. magistrate judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Scaramuzzino, owner of Premier Autoworkers Inc., received gross income of more than $2 million between 2001 and 2003 and failed to file income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service, federal officials said in a news release. He failed to pay $736,917 in taxes due on that income and also failed to pay $141,094 in taxes on his 2004 gross income of $452,078, the government alleges in an indictment. Scaramuzzino's Farmington Hills attorney, Mary Mahoney, declined comment. Each count carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. |
